Prospectus
This 2.5-day workshop will take place at the property of my friend, Judy Garbutt.
She has a large sunlit studio and beautiful yard overlooking a lake in Palm Coast, FL.
Judy has graciously offered to prepare a lunch for the artist on Sat & Sun
Day 1: Friday 5-8
Wine and cheese will be served as we begin with a presentation of the essentials in creating representational art, as well as some compositional and perspective drawing demonstrations.
Day 2: Saturday 10am-4pm
In the morning, Antwan will do a 2-hour demonstration in oils.
We will talk about the importance of compositional planning, observation, and color.
[break for lunch 12-1pm]
Students will start on their paintings in their preferred medium, painting a subject of their choice within a designated area. Antwan will provide feedback and individualized demonstration as he makes his way around the group.
Day 3: Sunday 10am-4pm
In the morning, Antwan will do a 2-hour demonstration in oils.
We will talk about observation and the thought process involved in assessing the subject, and the importance of simplification in order to emphasize the beauty of the subject.
Antwan will talk about brushwork and staying loose while painting.
[break for lunch 12-1pm]
Artists will have the choice of completing one larger painting or multiple smaller compositions. Antwan will make the rounds with one-on-one feedback.
Artists will then gather with their finished paintings for critique and talk about their challenges and successes.
Weather permitting; all of the painting will be from life, outdoors en plein air. There will be a few still life arrangement, as well as a lake overlook with a variety of landscape scenes.
With Covid-19 in mind, please make sure you are feeling 100% on the days of the classes. Please bring a mask for the indoor demonstrations and for your peace of mind. you are not required to where a mask outside where most of the lessons take place. In the event you are not feeling well closer to the event, you can let Antwan know for a refund or credit toward a future workshop.
