By: Antwan Ramar

Date: Jan 10-11-12th, 2024

Cost: $350

Place: Orlando, FL. Classroom TBD

this 2.5 day painting workshop will be taking you through the fundamentals of the oil medium, giving you confidence as we begin to tackle color, composition and edges. Through theory and observation I will help you make sense of what you are seeing and how to paint it.

Who can benefit:

This workshop is for all skill levels, though you might get more out of it if you have some experience. I aim to impart good habits and sound fundamental practices, but most of all I want your unique style to continue developing. Whether you are an established artist, weekend painter, or urban sketcher, this workshop will be a fun and enlightening adventure into the world of oil painting from life and photos.

Day 1Friday 4pm-7pm

I will begin with a presentation of the essentials of creating representational art; followed by a talk about the medium and tools. A short demo will follow to show paint applications and versatility of the medium.

Day 2Saturday 10am-5pm

I will do a painting demonstration from photos or life while giving insight into the thought process of assessing the subject.

[break for lunch 12-1pm]

Students will first sketch a scene (I will provide photos or bring your own) to explore the composition they hope to achieve. Students will then begin their paintings. Individual guidance and critique will be provided.

Day 3:  Sunday 10am-5pm

The morning will start with a 2 hour demonstration from photo.

[break for lunch 12-1pm]

Students will work on painting a subject of their choice from photos. I will provide feedback and individualized demonstrations as I make my way around the group.

Artists will then gather with their finished paintings for critique and talk about their challenges and progress.
